Christian Wheeler Engineering provides investigations of structures or structural components at the direction of the project Structural Engineers of Record designated Materials Testing and Assessment Program (MTCAP). The scope of these investigations can include the following.  

  • Visual assessment of concrete, masonry blocks, and other structural members. 
  • Concrete/Masonry Reinforcing Steel location and mapping utilizing Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) or Pacometer. 
  • Nondestructive Testing of Concrete Density utilizing a Rebound Hammer or Windsor Probe. 
  • Structural Steel member assessment. 
  • Timber pole assessment utilizing a wood penetration resistance measuring device.   
  • Steel Pole Assessment 
  • Concrete/Masonry core drilling samples for visual evaluation, chemical testing, and compressive strength testing. 
  • In-situ mortar joint shear testing for brick walls. 

Christian Wheeler Engineering provides the following specialized testing. 

  •  In-situ Shear and Tensile Strength testing of tile-finished facades in accordance with Ceramic Tile Institute of America.  
  • Pull Testing for Waterproof Coatings and Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) 
  • Floor Flatness and Floor Levelness Testing (FF and FL) using a FACE Dipstick Floor Profiler. 
  • Concrete floor relative humidity testing using Wagner Rapid RH Meter and Probes. 
  • Concrete floor calcium chloride moisture content testing.  
  • Infrared Scanning leak detection utilizing Fluke Infrared Thermal Imaging Camera. 
  • Electronic Leak Detection (ELD) utilizing Detec Systems IntegriScan Low Voltage ELD Device. 

 

Christian Wheeler also provides inspection and assessments of Exterior Elevated Elements in accordance with California State Bills 326 and 721.
