Design Phase Consulting
Christian Wheeler Engineering is a leader in San Diego Building Envelope Consulting services. We have a quarter century of experience on projects throughout Southern California, reaching up to Northern California and into Nevada. Led by Tayler Petersen, our Building Envelope Consulting Department provides as-needed consulting during Schematic Design, Design Development, and Construction Document stages of the project.
Our Design Phase Consulting services assist in review of basis-of-design materials, specifications, drawings, performing redline reviews, value engineering, and constructability reviews specific to the building envelope. This process is effective in identifying design conflicts, ambiguities, and apparent missing details prior to construction which can lead to costly change order or potential problems or delays during construction.
Construction Administration Phase Consulting
Once construction is set to begin, Christian Wheeler Engineering’s consulting continues by aiding the Design Team in reviewing and responding to Contractor Requests for Information (RFI’s), product data submittals and shop drawings. In addition, we lead Preconstruction Meetings related to the building envelope, waterproofing, and roofing aspects of construction in an effort to establish expectations and help ensure the project Design Team, General Contractor, and Subcontractors are on the same page when construction begins.
Quality Assurance Observation Services
In an effort to assist in alleviating post-construction problems, we provide quality assurance observations during construction of the building envelope, waterproofing, and roofing aspects of any project. This has become an industry standard for most project owners, developers, architects, and contractors which use this service to help ensure the work is being completed in general accordance with the approved project plans, specifications, and other approved documents.
