San Diego Zoo's Safari Park
Project Description
The Walkabout Australia exhibit is a 3.5-acre project located in San Diego Zoo’s Safari Park. This exhibit showcases Australian animals in a naturalistic setting similar to the Australian environment. An 8’ wide path winds along several open-air exhibits. Three structures provide animal holding areas. The upper area of the largest barn also serves as an event space. Small ponds, water features, and elevated observation decks are included.
Christian Wheeler is provided the initial Geotechnical Investigation (Hyperlink to explanation of Geotechnical Investigation) and the preparation of the subsequent Report of Preliminary Geotechnical Investigation as well as the Construction Phase Geotechnical Observation and Soil Testing Services. In addition, Christian Wheeler provided all required Special Inspection and Materials Testing of Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, High-Strength Bolting and Field Welding.
